WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE GETTING A TATTOO

Getting ready for your tattoo appointment not only ensures a smoother process but also helps your artist create the perfect piece for you. So, let's dive into what you should do before stepping foot into the tattoo shop.

PRIOR THE APPOINTMENT

MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN

To make the most out of your tattoo, let's give your skin some extra love! Get into the habit of moisturizing your skin 1-2 times a day for 10 days before your tattoo appointment.

By keeping your skin hydrated and drinking plenty of water, you'll have a healthier canvas for your tattoo. Remember, the better the canvas, the more fabulous your tattoo will turn out!

FAKE TAN:

If you are using fake tan, give your skin a good scrub prior your appointment.

GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

Prioritize a restful night's sleep before your tattoo session. Being well-rested allows you to stay alert and in tune with your body during the process.

DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL:

Here's an important tip to keep in mind before your tattoo appointment: avoid consuming alcohol. While it may be tempting to raise a glass in anticipation or to calm your nerves, alcohol and tattoos don't mix well. Alcohol thins the blood, making you more prone to bleeding during the tattooing process. It can also impair your judgment and affect your body's response to pain

AVOID MEDICATION

Avoid taking medication, numbing cream, and contact us to reschedule if under antibiotics.

Certain medications, such as blood thinners or aspirin, can increase the risk of bleeding during the tattooing process. Numbing creams can interfere with the tattooing process and impact the final outcome of your tattoo.

Additionally, if you are currently undergoing antibiotic treatment, it is highly recommended to reschedule your tattoo appointment. Antibiotics can affect how your body responds to the tattooing process, potentially leading to complications and impacting the healing of your tattoo. Prioritize your health and wait until you have completed your antibiotic course before proceeding with the tattoo session.

DURING THE APPOINTMENT

Let's talk about some important considerations for your tattoo session.

First, don't forget to eat before your appointment. It's crucial to eat a balanced and healthy meal to keep your energy levels up throughout the process. Bringing snacks is also a great idea, especially if you're prone to low blood sugar. A piece of fruit, granola bar, or cookies can be a lifesaver during longer tattoo sessions.

Stay hydrated by bringing water with you and don't hesitate to ask water to your artist if you need some.

When it comes to dressing, opt for comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area you're getting tattooed. Loose-fitting attire will help you stay at ease, avoid itchiness, and ensure your artist can work their magic smoothly.
